My work placement in Malta is with Richard "Recknblades for Fun" Robinson at the Reflex total fitness center in the Radisson Hotel. This gym is can be used by anyone, whether your a guests at the hotel or not. The gym is big enough for 50 people at the one time. It also has a swimming pool, jacuzzi and a sauna.  Today was quiet and wasn't very busy but me and Richard formed a good friendship with the staff of the gym. One of the members of staff eats bananas and coconuts for lunch. Today we had small jobs to do like rearranging weight sets, spotting and asking how gym users were feeling during their work out.
Loving work placement in Malta, it has been a pleasurable experience.

Whats the craic - Aaron Clarke

Today I got up around 7.45am and got washed, showered and breakfast in me for 8.15am. Stormin Norman came and picked Me Glenn Richie and Pearse up and brought us to our gyms. Me and Glenn are at Cynergi in Paceville. Our first job was to Walk the floor and check that the machines were working and the place was tidy. throughout the day we kept the gym tidy and clean plus we were able to do our own workout as we had a bit of time. We observed Hi-Lo Rhythm class which is all about choreography and is very quick and too be honest i don't think we could have kept up with the pace at which they were going.

Went to luxol and got toasties for lunch, they were nice! afterwards we went back to hotel and went down into the pool and played football/volleyball. We had loads of fun! got showered then ready for work placement again.
Arrived at Cynergi again at 4 and started in again we went and moved spin bikes from one studio to another so there would be more room for the class. We walked the floor and then had a team meeting with the other instructors and the manager bout keeping busy and the gym tidy and all weights back in the rack.
we went to luxol again and got fish and chips for tea and then went in Paceville tonight and played Bowling. It was good craic and everyone had a good time.

Ashley Rowe @ Ta'Qali Fitness Centre

I have spent my time in Malta in the ''Ta'Qali fitness Centre" with Robert Johnston. the Gym itself is 2 floors, with weights and Cardio equipment on both floors. there is also access to a health bar and swimming pool. frank and charlie co-own the gym between them and have done for 11years, "Ta'Qali" has 15 members of staff not including frank and charlie although frank is the head of administration in the gym and charlie is the maintenance man of in the place.some of the members of staff are interesting such as Joey as she plays professional basketball for a team in Sicali and also the Malta women's national team, also James who is 51 years old and is still a full-time fire surgeon and gym instructor, who is an animal when he is working out. The gym is situated in the Malta national football stadium, this is close to the town of "Rabbat" and also the Old capital city of "Mdina" known as the silent city, we learn't this on the culture tour we were taken on were we visited the city of Mdina and also seen the Mosta dome. we have been to "Golden Bay" on the weekends.

Sarah-Louise Reporting for Chic Physique

I am working with Eimear in Chic Physique, as she said it is a personal training gym. Working with clients on a one to one basis meeting their needs and requirements. It is Monday, and the start of a new week in sunny Malta. Alan returned from Newcastle yesturday so we got to meet him this morning when we went to placement. He is the main man in the gym, he has loaaads or qualifications and isn't finished yet. The last week in chic physique has been a good experience.
We have learned soooo much from Alexandra and Alan already. We have had clients on specific programmes. The programme is always made to their needs whether it being for an injury or if they just want to maintain their general fitness. We have learnt about a lot of injuries and also alternatives for a client with a specific injury. Last week I took part in two Easyline classes which use the hydrolic resistance machines. They are different to use as the harder you use them the intensity increases. I am looking forward to doing it again in the morning... not.

Gary Mills-16/06/2011

On my first day of Malta which was the Sunday, we went to the beach ( Golden Bay ). I thought that the beach was fantastic as the sun was beaming and we went out onto a paddle boat and dived in and that.

My Gym is called the West Workout which is located in the Western hotel in Malta which is Brilliant. In the Gym it has everything you need which includes, Free weights area, Resistance Machines, Cardovascular part of the gym, swimming pool and also a Studio which will take classes. Since I have been in the gym for four days I've did such work as Programmes for 4 clients, watched classes such as curcuits, cleaned the weights area and myself and Jordan also got to go Snarking yesterday with the hotel which was a great experience.

So far in Malta has been an amazing Experience and I cant wait to see what else Malta has to offer!!

My first veiw days!

My first day in Malta was Sunday the 12/06/2011, we went to the beach (golden bay) its was an awesome beach, great views and golden sand, very very hot! I got sun burned a lot on my face....not good!
The near by town ( Paceville) its a nice wee town, good few shops, well known brands, cinema as well.
My work placement is in Ta' Qali its part of the local football stadium, very big, has two floors which consist of cardio machines, free weights and fixed machines, the gym has a good buzz about it, the staff and gym users are very friendly, and it enjoyable to work in! Am learning a good view things in the gym, even tho am a keen gym user myself. Am learning more about managing a gym, also i was shown programmers for people, swimming, back, bums&thighs and and upper body for ladies and men!

Eimear Reporting on My Day At Chic Physic

I have the pleasure of doing my workplacement with my buddy SL (Sarah-Louise)..Were in Chic Physic personal training gym. Alexandra is the personal trainer that is working in Chic Physic and teaching us everything she knows :) Alan is the main man but he's away until next week so we'll get meeting him and learning off him when he's back. The last 3days in Chic Physic have been really good, we have seen clients come in who are following programmes specific to their needs looking ater all their injuries and goals. We took part in a easyline class yesturday which was challanging because of the weather conditions but was really good and I definitly can feel it today. We are learning how to make loads of alternative changes to each exercise.

Day 1 placement

Got up today at 6.15 for preperation for our punishment run, thanks to others within the group from the following morning. Went for a run at 7.00 and returned to the hotel for breakfast and then to get everything together for out 1st day at placement.
We arrived at Cynergy at 9.00am, me and Aaron were asked to take part in and observe a core conditioning class, the instructor Gillian knows her stuff and put the class through a high intensity class for 60 minutes, was a new type of workout as both of us had never participated in one before. We were then introduced to Charles who we shadowed for the rest of our first shift, he was a personal trainer within the gym and was putting a female client through a workout for improve flexibility and improve muscle tone. At 12noon our fist shift was finished and Lynne collected us to take us to the Luxol for out lunch.
